About
SUMMER DOAN is a Vietnamese filmmaker currently based in London. Originally from Ho Chi Minh City, she majored in Literature and Journalism with Media.
In 2016 and 2017, Summer co-founded and co-authored two journals, “Chuyen De Caro - Caro Journal.” The first edition featured the young generation's perspective on Vietnam Tet traditions, while the second focused on collective letters from different authors sent to loved ones around the world.
She worked as a Senior Producer, Writer, and Director at RICE Content & Media. Known for her adeptness in managing intricate, multi-country projects, she has worked with VICE, Channel News Asia, and Our Grandfather Story's USAID paid partnership as a producer/writer. She collaborated with global agencies including Across The Pond, Ogilvy, Societal and Prodigious for renowned brands such as Unilever, Google, Amazon, Suntory, Shinhan and Wooribank. Additionally, she has directed significant social impact projects for World Wildlife Fund Vietnam, Save the Children, and Our Better World.
At RICE Channel TV, she directed series like "Crazy Odd Asians," "Street Cooks," and "Impact Stories." Her latest series, "Vietnamese Overseas," explores the experiences of Vietnamese adapting to new cultures, capturing multi-layered urban chronicles.
Now, Summer focuses on her creative projects, including a short documentary and short films focusing on reality, diverse perspectives and memory.
